PRIVACY POLICY

When you use your 3M Cloud Library app ("App") to discover, check out, read, or listen to books or other digital content, certain information is shared with 3M and others to make this a useful tool for you. This Policy is intended to help you understand the ways that your information may be collected and used when you use the 3M Cloud Library application services ("Services"). BY LOGGING INTO AND USING THE SERVICES, YOU ARE CONSENTING TO THE COLLECTION, USE AND DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION AS DESCRIBED IN THIS POLICY.
Changes to this Policy
3M reserves the right to update or modify this Policy, at any time and without prior notice, by posting the revised version of this Policy at this site and/or in an updated version of the App.
What information is collected and how is it used?
Login Information. We use the identification information you provide and email address, if you provide one, that you use when you log in to the Services to create your 3M Cloud Library account, which stores information about checked out materials and lets you access them from other devices. 3M also transmits this information to your library to validate your library account. We may also use this information to contact you regarding your account.
Content of Bookmarks. When you create Bookmarks using the App, they are stored on 3M servers so that you can access them from other devices. 3M will access the content of your Bookmarks only as necessary to verify compliance with the Terms of Service and as required by applicable law.
Location Information. The Services do not collect, use or store the location of your mobile device.
Usage Data. The Services may collect anonymous information relating to the performance of the App, such as application crashes. We use this information in order improve our applications and services. We do not collect personally identifiable information as part of usage data or crash information.
Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM). Adobe DRM may be used for the protection of publisher content. For content protected by Adobe DRM, Adobe will collect End User Data for DRM functionality and that data will be transmitted to Adobe directly. The specific End User Data which will be collected and transmitted to Adobe directly, and how the data will be used, is described in detail in the Adobe RMSDK Privacy Policy http://www.adobe.com/privacy/adobe-rmsdk.html. 3M disclaims any liability for the collection and use of End User Data by Adobe.
Other Information. 3M collects and stores additional information relating to your use of the Service, such as your book lending history, your reading position in a book, your bookmarks, your library and library identifier, authentication information and any rating related to the book you provide and your email address, if provided. To aid in the analysis of this information, it is associated with your mobile device through a random number generated when you install the App. However, this information is not otherwise associated with your identity or account information and is collected and used on an anonymous basis. We may use this information for business purposes, such as customer service, fraud prevention, market research, improving our products and services, and for historical, statistical or scientific purposes.
Service and Support. In addition to the above, 3M and its service providers may access your information in the course of servicing and maintaining the Services.
Who shares your information?
Within 3M. 3M may share information collected through the 3M Cloud Library app with other 3M business units. When we do so, these other 3M business units will use your information in a manner consistent with the purposes for which it was originally collected (or to which you subsequently consented) and only as permitted under this Policy and privacy and data protection laws.
With 3M Service Providers. 3M may also share your personal information with third parties we hire to perform support services for us. These third parties are required to use the personal information we share with them only to perform services on our behalf, and will treat your personal information as strictly confidential.
Other Reasons for Sharing. In certain, limited circumstances we may share or transfer your information to unrelated third parties. For example, we may provide your information to a third party (i) at your request; (ii) to comply with a legal requirement or court order; (iii) to investigate a possible crime, such as child pornography or identity theft; (iv) in connection with the sale, purchase, merger, reorganization, liquidation or dissolution of 3M or a 3M business unit; or (v) under similar circumstances. If this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to protect your personal information.
How is your information stored and protected?
Your information will be stored in the 3M Data Center located in the United States. To the extent required by law, if your information is otherwise transferred outside your country an appropriate notice will be provided.
3M maintains reasonable safeguards to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of your information. Although we use security measures to help protect your information against unauthorized disclosure, misuse or alteration, as is the case with all computer networks linked to the Internet, we cannot guarantee the security of information provided over the Internet and will not be responsible for breaches of security beyond our reasonable control.
How do you access and change your personal information?
3M does not collect or store information associated with your identity, other than identification information you and your library, or company provides to allow you to use the service. By using the Service you may provide your email address, bookmark notations and by default you consent to store transaction information related to your account. If you wish to change or remove your email address or remove your 3M Cloud Library reading history, or bookmarks from your account, you can do so through your 3M Cloud Library account.
How long is your information retained by 3M?
3M retains information for as long as 3M deems necessary to provide the Services or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.
Children and Parents
The Services are not intended or permitted for use by persons under 13 years of age without the explicit consent of a parent or guardian. 3M does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from or about children through the Services except as permitted under applicable law. If your child has submitted personal information and you would like to request that such information be deleted from our records, you may do so contacting 3M's Library Systems Business at the address below.
Data Protection for Users in the United Kingdom
Information about you may be passed to 3M United Kingdom PLC as our provider of eCloud Library systems. Such information will be kept confidential. Since 3M United Kingdom is part of the global 3M Company, the information that you will provide us with will be stored on 3M's servers outside of Europe and other 3M companies or business partners may process this information on 3M United Kingdom's behalf, but always under strict conditions of confidentiality. 3M United Kingdom will keep this information to enable it to properly and effectively administer and monitor the customer relationship it has with you.
